BROOKINGS – Above, runners take off from the starting line to get the Scotty Roberts 5K underway on Friday evening in downtown Brookings.
The event was a prelude to today’s Brookings Marathon, Half Marathon and Relay, which began today at 7 a.m. at Pioneer Park. The races also conclude at Pioneer Park.
There are 148 entries in the marathon. The half marathon field hit its 400-runner cap March 24 and the relay hit its 50-team cap March 1.
Race winner Ray Munsterman, 20, of Brookings, finished in a time of 16 minutes, 57 seconds – nearly 2 minutes ahead of the rest of the field.
