BROOKINGS – The two-time defending Summit League regular season champion South Dakota State women’s soccer team released its 2019 schedule Friday. The Jackrabbits’ schedule features nine home dates, as SDSU will play one exhibition, 11 nonconference matches and eight league contests before hosting the 2019 Summit League Women’s Soccer Championship in November.

“We are looking forward to another exciting season of Jackrabbit soccer and have a nonleague schedule that will challenge us before an always-tough Summit League slate,” head coach Brock Thompson said. “With nine home dates, we’re looking forward to showcasing our program in front of SDSU fans as a number of teams will be making their first-ever trips to Fishback Soccer Park.”

SDSU will tune up for the campaign with a road exhibition at Kansas City Aug. 17 before coming home to open the season Aug. 23 and 25 at Fishback Soccer Park against Utah State and Idaho State, respectively.

From there, the Jacks play six of their next eight games on the road, traveling to Creighton (Aug. 29), Kansas State (Sept. 1), Drake (Sept. 6), Minnesota (Sept. 15), Northern Iowa (Sept. 20) and Northern Illinois (Sept. 22). A two-game stop in Brookings breaks up the road trip into groups of three, with South Dakota State hosting Hawaii and Eastern Washington for a weekend, Sept. 10 and 13.

After the NIU contest, the Jacks come back to Brookings to wrap up nonleague play Sept. 28 against New Mexico State.

Four home games in October highlight the Summit League portion of SDSU’s 2019 campaign.

The Jackrabbits will host North Dakota, Western Illinois, Purdue Fort Wayne and North Dakota State with away bouts against Oral Roberts, Omaha, South Dakota and Denver.

After the regular season, South Dakota State will host The Summit League Championships in Brookings Nov. 7 and 9 after the Jackrabbits won the 2018 regular season crown as repeat champions.
