SDSU architecture program garners award

John Ronan, FAIA, founding principal of John Ronan Architects in Chicago, served as juror, considering nearly two-dozen submitted projects. Ronan, who is known for abstract yet sensuous work that explores materiality and atmosphere, holds a Master of Architecture degree with distinction from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and is the John and Jeanne Rowe Endowed Chair Professor of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology College of Architecture. American Institute of Architecture South Dakota Design awards were given to firms and organizations for excellence in architecture. The honors were given at the AIA South Dakota annual conference last month in Sioux Falls.

South Dakota State University DoArch, the state’s accredited architecture program, took home an Honor Award for Detailing and Craftsmanship for its design of the Lamella Arch in Brookings.
