SDSU defeats Mary 77-46

BROOKINGS – Myah Selland (23) and Macy Miller (16) combined for 39 points on 16-of-24 shooting as South Dakota State wrapped up exhibition play with a 77-46 defeat of Mary on Thursday night at Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits finished at 52.5 percent (31-of-59) from the field, while the Marauders ended up at 33.3 percent (17-of-51).

SDSU outscored Mary 52-8 in the paint and scored 30 points off 24 Marauder turnovers while giving the ball away nine times.

The home team led 15-11 after a quarter and 35-22 at halftime, before taking control with a 10-0 spurt – Miller had eight points and Selland added a bucket – to open the third period.

Tagyn Larson had nine points and seven rebounds. Madison Guebert added eight points and Paiton Burckhard six to go with seven boards. Selland also grabbed seven rebounds. Tylee Irwin came up with four of the team’s 14 steals.

Mary’s Gabbie Bohl scored 13 points.

South Dakota State opens the regular season taking on Marquette on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. in Milwaukee, Wis. The Jackrabbits are host to Florida Gulf Coast on Friday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m.
