BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State equestrian team improved to 2-3 with an 18-2 defeat of Minnesota-Crookston on Friday at the DeHaan Equestrian Center.

“We had strong rides in every discipline but there’s always things to improve on,” Jackrabbit coach Ellie Wilkins said. “We came away with four MOPs, which was a good way to end the fall season. We will miss the three seniors we recognized who are graduating in December. I’m really proud of how this team performed this semester and we’re looking forward to our double header in February.”

SDSU swept equitation of the flat and reining, while holding 4-1 margins in equitation over fences and horsemanship.

Jacey Chorlton (78 in equitation of the flat), Mariah Wright (72.5 in reining), Claire Garduno (79 in equitation over fences) and Rylee Streit (72.5 in horsemanship) earned MOP honors.

SDSU is host to Delaware State and North Dakota State on Feb. 9-10.
