MARICOPA, Ariz. – Teresa Toscano tied for seventh and the South Dakota State women’s golf team finished second in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, which concluded Tuesday at the 6,131-yard, par-72 Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
The senior, who was tied for second entering the final round, closed with a 78 for a 1-over-par 217 total.
CSU Fullerton’s Brittany Shin (73) shot 5-under 211 for a two-stroke victory.
New Mexico State (290) took the team title at 869.
The Jackrabbits (302) had an 876 total in second.
Mia Seeman (75) tied for 10th at 219, Hester Sicking (74) tied for 13th at 220, Cassidy Laidlaw (75) tied for 20th at 223 and Alex Kandolin (78) tied for 31st at 226.
Twenty teams and 114 individuals competed in the event.
SDSU concludes the regular season with the Stampede at the Creek on Monday and Tuesday in Omaha.
MEN
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The South Dakota State men’s golf team closed with a 1-under-par 287 on Tuesday to finish ninth in the Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate at the 7,221-yard, par-72 The Club at Old Hawthorne.
The host Tigers (279) outdueled Kansas State (288) to take the team crown by seven strokes with a 54-hole tally of 25-under 839.
Mizzou’s Ross Steelman (66) was medalist at 16-under 200 – four ahead of Illinois State’s David Perkins (68).
Liam Georgiadis shot 68 in the third round and tied for 10th with a 3-under 213 total.
Jack Tanner (72) tied for 21st at 217, James Temple (73) tied for 44th at 224, Matthew Schaefer (74) tied for 61st at 229 and Will Frazier (74) finished 72nd at 236.
Fourteen teams and 78 individuals compete in the event.
SDSU returns to action at the Stampede at the Creek on Monday and Tuesday in Omaha.
