SDSU men take Bison Open title

FARGO, N.D. – The South Dakota State men’s cross country team won the Bison Open on Friday with 26 team points. Host North Dakota State (29) was second and North Dakota (82) third.

Micah Mather was runner-up in the 6K in 18 minutes, 55.2 seconds. Gabe Peters (19:03.5) was third, Tom Breuckman (19:13.4) fifth, Ben Olson (19:21.8) seventh and Joseph Minor-Williams (19:24.7) ninth.

On the women’s side, the Bison (19 points) placed first, the Fighting Hawks (53) second and the Jackrabbits (60) third.

Ellie Friesen took second with a 14:20.8 clocking in the 4K. Anna Donnay (14:34.8) placed eighth, Emma Nelson (15:24) 17th, Kendra Dykstra (15:36.3) 20th and Jamie Schweiss (15:36.7) 21st.

SDSU competes in the Woody Greeno Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. in Lincoln, Neb.
