SDSU men’s golf team takes 11th

MADISON, Wis. – The South Dakota State men’s golf team closed with a 296 for a 901 total and an 11th-place finish at the Badger Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at the 7,259-yard, par-72 University Ridge Golf Course.

Illinois State shot 5-under-par 283 in the final round for a 9-under 855 total. Kansas (285) was second at 859. Nevada (287) and Iowa State (286) tied for third with 54-hole totals of 863.

The Wolfpack’s Joey Vrziach (7-under 65) went deep in the third round to earn medalist honors with a final tally of 13-under 203.

Iowa State’s Lachlan Barker (69) was runner-up at 206. The Redbirds’ Dave Perkins (69) and Marquette’s Hunter Eichhorn (68) tied for third at 208.

The Jackrabbits’ Jared Nicolls (71) finished in a tie for 27th at 5-over 221. He totaled nine birdies in the event.

Harry Duggan (70) tied for 38th at 225, Sam Batta (80) and Alejandro Perazzo (75) tied for 55th at 231, and Jacob Otta (81) tied for 68th at 237. Duggan made eight birdies and three eagles in the tourney.

Competing as an individual, Jaxon Lynn (85) tied for 77th with a 245 total.

SDSU returns to action at the Ram Masters Invitational, hosted by Colorado State on Monday and Tuesday in Fort Collins, Colo.
