SDSU pulls away from Peru State

BROOKINGS – South Dakota State pulled away from Peru State (Neb.) and beat the Bobcats 86-58 at home Thursday night. 

The Bobcats, who are an NAIA school, hung around with the Jackrabbits in the first 10 minutes of the game and actually led 14-8 four minutes into the game. The score was tied 21-21 with 6:55 left in the first half when SDSU went on a 17-2 run to go up 38-23. They led 42-28 at the half.

The Jacks opened the second half on an 11-2 run to take a 22-point lead and wouldn’t look back. The largest lead of the game for SDSU was 34 points.

Doug Wilson led the Jacks in scoring for the second straight game. He finished with 13 points and eight rebounds. Matt Dentlinger had 12 points and six rebounds. David Wingett, a transfer from Memphis, scored 12 points and had eight rebounds off the bench. All Jackrabbits players that played scored.

SDSU will travel west this weekend as it takes on UC Bakersfield on Saturday at 9 p.m. before facing USC on Tuesday at 9 p.m. The game against the Roadrunners is on ESPN3.
