BROOKINGS – Macy Miller had 22 points and nine rebounds as South Dakota State cruised past Bowling Green 76-44 in a nonconference game Saturday night at Frost Arena.

The Jackrabbits improved to 8-2, while the Falcons fell to 7-2.

SDSU shot 43.1 percent (25-of-58) from the field and limited BGSU to just 25.8 percent (16-of-62).

All 10 Jackrabbits to play found the scoring column.

“I’m just really pleased with the win, really pleased with the kind of basketball we played over the last few weeks,” said SDSU coach Aaron Johnston. “We just continue to really get better at some things and see a lot of different people step up. We rebounded really well today, defended really well today. I thought we were a little better offensively in our rhythm today – good ball movement and really balanced offensively.

“Macy was really efficient, did a nice job. Madi (Guebert) was, I thought, really good today to be honest with you. She didn’t make as many shots but she got to the free-throw line, she rebound really well and did a lot of good things.

“So I’m just pleased with where the team’s at after this tough stretch that we’ve had.”

SDSU raced out to a 14-4 lead and was up 18-11 after 10 minutes. The Jackrabbits pushed the margin to 43-21 at halftime and 62-30 through three. The lead peaked at 38 points – 74-36 – with 3:10 remaining in the game.

South Dakota State takes on Creighton on Friday at 4 p.m. in Omaha, Neb., and Drake on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
