BROOKINGS – South Dakota State women's soccer released its schedule for the upcoming 2017 season. The Jackrabbits play eight home matches, including a preseason exhibition, and have 10 nonconference contests before competing in eight Summit League games.
"We're excited about next year's schedule and have a great slate of games to prepare us for Summit League play," first-year SDSU head coach Brock Thompson said. "As we always have in the past, we're looking to challenge ourselves against some of the best programs in the Midwest and the country."
SDSU will tune up for the campaign with exhibitions against Wyoming and Manitoba before traveling west to face Utah State in its season opener on Aug. 18. The weekend concludes with a contest at Utah, a team that reached the third round of last year's NCAA Tournament.
The Jackrabbits' home opener is Aug. 25 against North Dakota. Following a game at UMKC, Iowa State comes to town the first day of September before a string of four road games at Creighton, Northern Iowa, Drake and UND.
The final nonconference game is a home bout with Northern Colorado on Sept. 17.
Omaha, IPFW, South Dakota and North Dakota State come to Fishback Soccer Park for Summit League games while SDSU is set for conference trips to Denver, IUPUI, Western Illinois and Oral Roberts before the league tournament, Nov. 2-4, in Fargo, N.D.
