COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – The South Dakota State men’s golf team finished 12th in the Intercollegiate at The Grove, which finished up Tuesday at 7,368-yard, par-72 The Grove Club.

The Jackrabbits shot 304 Sunday and 303 Tuesday for a 607 total. Scheduled for a 54-hole tournament, Monday’s round was canceled due to rain.

SDSU’s Jones Comerford (71-76) and Jonah Dohrer (76-71) tied for 20th at 147. Jack Tanner tied for 67th with a 157 (79-78) total. Jacob Otta tied for 82nd at 163 (85-78) and Harry Duggan finished 84th at 164 (78-86).

“Disappointing finish for us this week. As always the guys fought for each shot but we hit some poor ones that cost us big time,” said SDSU coach Casey VanDamme. “Too many big numbers to compete at the level we are trying to compete at.”

Tennessee won the team title with a 7-under-par 569 (284-285) total. Lamar was second at 9-over 585 (292-293).

The Volunteers’ Tyler Johnson was medalist with a 6-under 138 (70-68) total. Tennessee’s Hunter Wolcott and Lipscomb’s Nolan Ray (70-70) posted 36-hole totals of 4-under 140 to tie for second.

Nine of the 88 individuals in the event broke par and three others shot even.

The tourney included 14 teams.

SDSU wraps up the fall season at the Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 20-21 in Vero Beach, Florida.
