BOULDER CITY, Nev. – In the first outing of the spring season, the South Dakota State women's golf team finished second at the Battle at Boulder Creek.
The Jackrabbits shot a final-round 290 Tuesday to finish with a 54-hole total of 895.
Southern Utah shot 882, including a 289 in the final round, to win the team championship at the par-72, 6,084-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club course. The Thunderbirds’ Taylor Viquelia won the individual title, shooting a 216 (74-70-72).
SDSU’s Megan Mingo (70) and Islamiah Fuad (71) tied for third at 220.
Hallie Getz (74) tied for seventh at 225, Teresa Toscano (75) tied for 14th at 230 and Sydney Bormann (80) took 19th with a 235 total. Competing as an individual Natcha Srimaneerungroj (79) tied for 21st at 237.
SDSU returns to action Feb. 27 at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla.
Notes: The Jackrabbits have finished in the top three in all six tournaments this season.
