SDSU to hold Elizabethan Christmasse Feaste

Posted

BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State University Choral Program will present its biennial Elizabethan Christmasse Feaste in the Lincoln Music Hall’s Peterson Recital Hall at 7 p.m., Nov. 30-Dec. 2, and at 5 p.m., Dec. 3. Tickets, which are $45, are only available for the Nov. 30 show. The other shows are sold out.

Under the direction of Laura Diddle, this university tradition includes a dinner served in the manner of a 17th-century English manor house. Music will include traditional English madrigals and other seasonal appropriate selections. The 18-voice Madrigal Singers, seated on the stage of Peterson Recital Hall, perform wearing exquisite traditional Renaissance costumes.

Before the Dec. 2 show, there will be a preperformance reception to celebrate 30 years of Madrigal dinners at the SDSU Alumni Center’s Woster Celebration Hall. The reception starts at 5:30 p.m. The event’s former directors, Stephen Grives and Charles Canaan, will be in attendance and honored.

Registration forms and ordering instructions are available online at https://www.sdstate.edu/music/madrigal-dinner. Tickets may be ordered online or in person at the SDSU School of Performing Arts, located on the second floor of the Lincoln Music Hall.
