SDSU volleyball swept by Purdue Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Purdue Fort Wayne defeated South Dakota State 25-22, 25-21, 25-18 in a Summit League volleyball match Friday night.

Sydney Boerst led a balanced attack with 11 kills and a block for the Mastodons (17-12, 11-4). Madelyn Wurster had 11 kills and a block assist. Katie Crowe (service ace) and Sidney Schiller (solo block) both tallied eight kills. Sandra Hoevels contributed six kills and a block, while Elizabeht Fuerst had four kills and 2 1/2 blocks (one solo).

Kendyll Gebert (23) and Madison Gates (20) combined for 43 set assists. Crowe came up with 17 digs and Rachael Crucis 16.

For the Jackrabbits, Crystal Burk finished with nine kills, an ace, a block and 10 digs. Tori Thompson recorded five kills and four blocks (two solo). Makenzie Hennen contributed seven kills, an ace and 10 digs. Anna Nerad chipped in with eight kills and Ashlynn Smith six to go with a block assist.

Carly Wedel (13) and Maddie Fay (12) combined for 25 set assists. Tatum Pickar notched nine digs.

SDSU (6-21, 3-12) closes the regular season playing host to Omaha on Sunday at 1 p.m.
