BROOKINGS – South Dakota State beat Oral Roberts 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 25-21 in a Summit League volleyball match Sunday afternoon at Frost Arena.
The Jackrabbits improved to 6-18 (3-9) to match both their overall and conference win total from 2018. The Golden Eagles dropped to 6-20 (2-10).
SDSU’s Makenzie Hennen totaled 18 kills, two solo blocks, a service ace and 17 digs.
Crystal Burk had 12 kills, a solo block and 14 digs. Ashlynn Smith collected 10 kills, an ace and a block. Tori Thompson recorded seven kills and three blocks (one solo).
Carly Wedel (24) and Maddie Fay (23) combined for 47 of the team’s 57 set assists. Wedel also had five kills and two blocks.
The Jackrabbits held a 12-5 advantage in blocks. Anna Nerad notched three blocks (two solo) to go with three kills and an ace.
Libero Tatum Pickar paced the defense with 25 digs and Ellie Thien came up with 13.
For ORU, CeCe Madison had 15 kills and 12 digs. Bri Greenlee added seven kills, two blocks and an ace. Inka Inkret contributed eight kills, an ace and a block assist while Taylan Nero chipped in with eight kills and a block assist.
Sylvia Lawson dished out 38 set assists and notched 13 digs. Sarah Thiessen tallied 18 digs.
South Dakota State heads to No. 1 South Dakota (23-1, 12-0), which is riding a 20-match winning streak, for a match Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Notes: The Golden Eagles beat the Jackrabbits 25-23, 24-26, 25-16, 25-20 in the first meeting this season Oct. 6 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. … SDSU went 6-23 (3-13) last season.
