SDSU volleyball wins

BEAUMONT, Texas – South Dakota State swept Prairie View A&M 25-17, 25-22, 25-15 Saturday to conclude the Katrinka Crawford Invitational with a 2-1 record.

“We took care of business this morning and controlled the match from start to finish,” said SDSU coach Nicole Cirillo “Overall, it was a good weekend of growth with this young team showing it can perform at this level.”

Makenzie Hennen racked up 17 kills and a block. Crystal Burk had nine kills, three blocks (two solo), a service ace and six digs. Anna Nerad added seven kills and three blocks.

Maddie Fay (20) and Carly Wedel (14) combined for 34 set assists. Tatum Pickar came up with 15 digs.

The Jackrabbits held a 10-1 advantage in total blocks.

The Panthers’ Tamaira Armstrong finished with 11 kills and an ace. Alexis Marion had four kills and four aces.

Jakarta Hope (10) and Erica Jimenez (nine) combined for 19 set assists. Skyla Childs notched nine digs.
