SDSU women’s tennis drops two matches in Missouri

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The South Dakota State women’s tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Drury Sunday afternoon.

“Today was a better day for the women,” Ffion Davies said. “We came out today much better and fighting from the first ball and we had a lot more determination compared to yesterday. The women should be happy with their energy and fight but we need to continue this momentum into future matches.”

Morgan Brower and Sidney Brower won their No. 2 doubles match 3-4 due to their opponents retiring from injury.

Daria Yakovleva claimed the second point for the Jacks with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 6.

Morgan Brower came up short at No. 4 with a 7-6, 7-5 loss.

Katerina Tretyakova (No.1) and Maria Laura Velazco (No. 5) also lost close matches, both falling 7-5, 6-2.

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The South Dakota State women’s tennis team was upended 7-2 by Southwest Baptist Saturday afternoon.

SDSU falls to 0-11 on the season, while SBU improves to 5-3.

Emilly Van Dijk and Maria Laura Velazco won their No. 3 doubles match 8-5.

Daria Yakovleva captured the lone singles point for the Jacks with a 6-2, 3-6, 14-12 victory at No. 6.

Katerina Tretyakova came close to a win with a 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 loss at No. 1.
