SDSU’s poor 2nd half leads to loss

OMAHA – South Dakota State women's basketball dropped to 0-2 on the season as they were outscored 36-19 in in the second half and fell to Creighton 61-48.

The Jackrabbits were up 15-11 after the first quarter. Each team scored 14 points in the second quarter and SDSU was up 29-25 at halftime. 

That’s where things went bad for the Jacks. SDSU shot 27% from the field in the second half and went 1-10 from the three. Meanwhile, the Bluejays shot 44% from the field and 47% from three.

Myah Selland led the Jacks with 14 points and eight rebounds. Paiton Burckhard had 12 points and six rebounds. Tylee Irwin had seven points and six rebounds and Rylie Cascio Jensen had five points. SDSU went 2-13 from three for the game.

The Bluejays (2-0) were led by Jaylyn Agnew. She had 23 points, five assists and four rebounds. Temi Carda had 13 points and nine rebounds for Creighton. Olivia Elger had nine points and four rebounds. Tatum Rembao and Payton Brotzki each had six points.

SDSU will play their first game of the season in the state of South Dakota on Friday when they take on Dakota Weselyan at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls. The game is scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m.
