SDSU’s Smith ties for 29th at Arizona Intercollegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. – South Dakota State senior Grant Smith shot a second-round 68 and finished tied for 29th on Tuesday at the 2017 Arizona Intercollegiate.

The Jackrabbits shot a three-round 941 (328-312-301) and placed 17th.

No. 20 Oregon won the event, shooting a five-over par 276 at the par-71, 7,262-yard Sevailo Golf Club.

The No. 1 ranked collegiate player, Oregon's Wyndham Clark, was medalist, firing a four-under par 209 (70-71-68).

Smith shot a three-round 224, firing a second round-leading 68 and 75 Tuesday. He collected 11 birdies in the event.

Sophomore Jaxon Lynn tied for 77th, shooting a 76 in the final round for a 238 (82-80-76).

Junior Naqiuddin Fuad was 86th (85-85-78–248), sophomore Alejandro Perazzo 88th (89-79-84–252) and freshman Alejandro Restrepo 90th (80-80-72–152).

The South Dakota State men's golf team returns to action Feb. 17-19 at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif.

Monday’s results

The Jackrabbits shot a 328 for 18th place after Day 1.

No. 2 Oregon led the field, shooting a 293 as Clark led the 89-player field with a one-under par 70.

Restrepo led the Jackrabbits, shooting an 80 to tie for 63rd. He collected a birdie on the 16th hole and an eagle on the 8th. Smith wass tied for 69th, firing an 81.

Lynn shot an 82, Fuad an 85 and Perazzo an 89.
