Selland named Player of the Week

SIOUX FALLS – For the first time in her career, South Dakota State’s Myah Selland was named Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, announced Monday.

The sophomore from Letcher averaged a team-leading 18.5 points, nine rebounds, three assists and one steal per game while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 77.8 percent from the free-throw line in two wins.

In the Jackrabbits’ 76-59 defeat of Denver on Jan. 9, Selland recorded her second career double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds while dishing out three assists. She went 8-of-12 from the floor.

She logged 19 points and seven boards in a 68-55 victory over Oral Roberts on Jan. 12. Selland also had three assists, a block and a steal while going 6-of-15 from the field and 6-for-6 at the foul line.

For the season, Selland averages 13.5 points per game. She is also averaging 5.7 rebounds and a team-best 3.6 assists. Selland is shooting 51.4 percent from the field, 32.6 percent from 3-point range and 81.3 percent from the foul line.

She has scored in double figures in 14 games.

Selland has 482 career points.

SDSU (12-6, 4-1) returns to action when it plays at North Dakota on Friday at 7 p.m. in Grand Forks.
