S.F. Christian sweeps team titles at Sioux Valley Invitational

VOLGA – Sioux Falls Christian swept the team titles at the Sioux Valley Invitational on Tuesday at Meadow Creek.

Boys

The Chargers totaled 28 team points, while the host Cossacks were second at 39.

Flandreau (99) finished sixth and Estelline (146) was ninth.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Patrick Vogel closed strong to win the 5K race in a time of 17 minutes, 42.77 seconds.

Sioux Valley’s Max Nielson was runner-up with a 17:55.26 clocking. Garretson’s Preston Bohl finished third in 18:06.36.

The Cossacks’ Kelton Vincent took fourth in 18:14.92 and the Panthers’ Mack Ashton rounded out the top five with an 18:18.18 clocking.

Riley Benning paced the Redmen, taking 15th in 18:59.29.

Isaac Engbers (18:46.47) and Xavier VanBeek (18:51.07) were 10th and 12th, respectively, to round out the Chargers’ team tally.

Completing Sioux Valley’s team score, Evan Rathbun (19:15.41) took 18th and Cade Gross (19:18.55) 19th.

The Fliers’ top runner, David Allen, just missed medaling after taking 22nd in 19:25.96.

The Chargers (23) edged the Fliers (31) for the team championship, and the Blue Dragons (54) were third.

Sioux Valley totaled 114 team points in seventh.

Deuel’s Kenzie Hamann was medalist in the 5K with a 19:57.71 clocking.

Sinona Flute led Flandreau, taking second in 20:09.62.

Sioux Falls Christian’s Micah VanKalsbeek was third in 20:33.88.

The Fliers’ Elizabeth Hursey (21:08.57) and the Chargers’ Rachel Barkema (21:18.36) rounded out the top five.

Completing Sioux Falls Christian’s team score, Madi Thurston (21:37.7) placed 10th.

Flandreau’s Hannah Parsley was 11th with a 21:39.55 clocking and Kathryn Parsley finished 19th in 22:16.96 to round out the team tally.

Arlington’s Tessa Nelson (22:02.65) ended up 15th.

Emily Ford led Sioux Valley by taking 29th in 23:41.25.

The Chargers put eight runners in the top 20.
