SF’s Joel Wallner wins SDGA Mid-Amateur Championship

SIOUX FALLS – Sioux Falls’ Joel Wallner won the SDGA Mid-Amateur Championship over the weekend at Prairie Green. He finished with a 3-over-par 147 total, carding a 69 Saturday and a 78 Sunday.

Watertown’s Tyler VanHecke (69-79), Dell Rapids’ Michael Schmidt (74-74) and Sioux Falls’ Chris Mithelman (71-77) tied for second – one stroke back with 148 totals. Sioux Falls’ Julean Michels (75-74—149) rounded out the top five.

Brodie Hullinger led the Brookings contingent, tying for 13th. He shot 72-81 for a 36-hole score of 153.

Jake Steen (77-82—159) tied for 24th, Scott Holm (80-83—163) tied for 34th and Chris Brozik (79-85—164) ended up 38th in the 93-player field.

The SDGA Two-Man Championship is Saturday and Sunday at Hart Ranch in Rapid City.
