Memorial services are at 11 a.m. on Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Brookings.  Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.  Eidsness Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sharyn was born June 13, 1947, in Pierre to Richard and Rosella Groseclose. She graduated from Onida High School in 1965. After graduating, she went to Rapid City and attended business school. Later, Sharyn married the love of her life, Guy Douglas Archer on March 4, 1967. Her full time job was staying at home to care for her children and also cared for other children at the time. They had two daughters, Nicole Rae on Dec. 11, 1969, and Kenlyn Kay on Oct. 17, 1971.

In 1972, Guy and Sharyn moved from the family farm to Brookings. On Jan. 20, 1976, Guy and Sharyn welcomed their first son, Dustin Douglas. The couple moved to Avon in 1976, and returned to Brookings in 1980. On July 11, 1981, their second son, Trent Richard, was born.

Sharyn was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the red hatters club until her health started to decline. During her time with the red hatters she met many lifelong friends along the way. Sharyn enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities and enjoyed watching them succeed. She passed time doing crafts, adult coloring, and getting together on Friday nights for supper with her circle of close friends.

Sharyn is survived by her three children and their families, Nicole (Ken) Archer of Brandon; Dustin (Jill) Archer and Trent Archer all of Brookings; five grandchildren; four sisters, Suzanne (Jerry) Gregg of Boise, Idaho, Tammy (Lawrence) Serbousek of Denver, Jodi (Earl) Broker of Sioux Falls and Rory (Rodney) Mennenger of Onida; and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Sharyn was preceded in death by her husband, Guy; parents, Richard and Rosella; and daughter, Kenlyn.
