BROOKINGS – Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan’s Purse International Relief organization children’s outreach, is now under way.
Participants can fill a standard-size shoebox with an assortment of toys, school supplies and hygiene items for either a boy or a girl ages 2-4 years, 5-9 years or 10-14 years.
Boxes are distributed worldwide in orphanages, war-torn regions and disaster areas. Area teams strive to make distributions in new areas each year.
The boxes can be taken to Holy Life Tabernacle at 241 Mustang Pass in Brookings Nov. 12-19.
The collection times are: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon; and Monday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
The delivery truck leaves at 11 a.m.
Shoeboxes are available upon request by calling Chris Adkins at 691-3841.
