BROOKINGS – A yield sign was struck by a motor vehicle in a hit-and-run over the weekend, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident was reported at 11:15 a.m. Saturday and occurred at the intersection of 198th Street and 487th Avenue, said Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring.
“The vehicle was traveling westbound on 198th Street and went off the roadway and struck the sign. The incident occurred sometime after (9 p.m.) as a white truck and a small tan car with damage to the frame was seen in the area,” Sebring said.
“The witness could not give a make, model or license plate number of the vehicles. The cost to repair the sign is unknown at this time,” he added.
