BROOKINGS – These 15 singers from Brookings High School and Mickelson Middle School participated in the 2019 South Dakota Junior Honor Choirs. They, along with 150 other singers, were selected by audition to participate in this event, which is held in conjunction with the South Dakota American Choral Director’s Winter Conference. This year the conference was held in Sioux Falls on Jan. 18-19.

There were two honor choirs. The Women’s Choir was under the directions of Dr. Philip Swan from Lawrence Conservatory of Music in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Mixed Choir was under the direction of Heath Weber, the associate dean for performing arts at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Both choirs performed a concert Saturday in the O’Gorman High School Lorang Theater.
