MONTROSE – The Sioux Valley volleyball team defeated Flandreau in five sets in the seventh place game of the Big East Conference Tournament this weekend.
Chester Area won the tournament after defeating Garretson in five sets. Baltic defeated McCook Central/Montrose in five sets in the third place match. Parker beat Beresford in five sets in the fifth place match.
The Cossacks took the first set of the seventh place match 25-20. The Fliers would respond with a 26-24 victory in set two. Flandreau took a 2-1 lead with a 25-20 win in set three, but Sioux Valley extended the match with ha 25-20 win in set four. The Cossacks would then take the deciding set 15-12.
Reagan Johnson had 22 kills and three blocks for Sioux Valley. Ashley Bjerke had 20 assists and 14 digs. Kasey Pistulka had 26 digs and Julia Steffensen had nine. Kaedyn Sapp had nine digs and eight kills. Adison Renkly had 3.5 blocks.
The Cossacks had 43 kills as a team and 39 assists.
Sioux Valley is now 4-4 and will host De Smet Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
