Sioux Valley volleyball falls to Arlington at home

VOLGA – The Sioux Valley volleyball team was swept by Arlington Tuesday night. The Cardinals won the three sets 25-17, 25-20 and 25-20.

“I thought third set was a lot better [than the first two]. Being down seven and tying it back up at 17-17 is pretty good. We’ve been working on trying to minimize our errors and just not have so many hitting errors. Hopefully tonight we did a better a job of that. Arlington is a good team. They don’t make a lot of mistakes, so you don’t want to give them a lot of free balls. The first two sets we gave them way too many,” said Sioux Valley head coach Jill Vincent.

Hadley Carlson led the Cardinals with 27 digs, 18 kills and four blocks. Morgan Larsen had nine kills and eight digs. Grace Perry had 37 assists and nine digs. Harley Johnson had 11 digs and Natalie Burns had six.

The Cossacks were led by Rylan Willis who had nine kills and four digs. Reagan Johnson had six kills and seven blocks. Haydyn Hauge had 21 assists and Kasey Pistulka had 22 digs.

Arlington is now 10-7 on the season and plays Deubrook Area at home on Thursday. The Cossacks are 10-13 and play Baltic in Volga on Thursday.

“Hopefully we can minimize our hitting errors [Thursday], serve consistently and play defense like we can. We have to play for each other and not be worried about someone coming in and playing our spot. We have to keep that drama out,” Vincent said.
