BROOKINGS – Snow and ice wreaked havoc with drivers this weekend, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office and Brookings Police.
“The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office responded to close to 30 weather-related accidents or slide-ins” from Friday through Saturday, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.
“The Brookings County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the traveling public to use caution and slow down when traveling on the roadways during inclement weather,” he said.
The police worked 11 accidents within city limits, Lt. Marci Gebers said. One was an injury accident on Interstate 29 between Mile Markers 132 and 133.
There were some minor injuries to the people involved, and there were transports to the Brookings hospital, she said.
There are few details because the reports are not all complete yet, due to the heavy workload, she added.
“They were going call to call,” Gebers said.
