Smith gets SDSU employee honor

BROOKINGS – Chuck Smith has been named South Dakota State University’s Civil Service Employee of the Month for February. Smith, an accounting assistant for the Facilities and Services Customer Services Center, will be honored at 3 p.m. Feb. 25, in the Facilities and Services’ main building common area.

“I have never worked with a person who gives as much attention to detail as he does,” said Elizabeth Jessen, program assistant I for Facilities and Services. “His skills do not end with office work. He also projects a warm, cheerful attitude to our customers. I have seen him resolve conflicts and handle other difficult situations with remarkable patience and admirable tact. He loves people, works hard and always tries to lift the spirits of those around him. I believe these characteristics represent all that is good in the university.”

Smith has been employed at South Dakota State and recently completed his 16th year of service.

Smith, who graduated from SDSU in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in business economics, has worked many years as a ticket scanner for athletic events.
