BROOKINGS – The Brookings Street Department is declaring a parking ban effective 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27.

All motor vehicles, implements and trailers must be removed from all streets, alleys and avenues until such streets have been cleaned of snow from curb to curb. Violators will be subject to ticketing and towing.

City officials also encouraged residents this week to sign up for the city’s emergency alert service.

Citizens may sign up to receive a text or email if a parking ban is issued. Go to www.cityofbrookings.org/list.aspx. Enter your email address and select the envelope icon to subscribe for an email notification and the cell phone icon or text message notification under Alert Center – Emergency Alerts.

The city’s goal is to notify the public in a timely manner. By providing this online feature, the city can notify everyone in an instant when a snow parking ban has been issued. For more information, contact the Street Department at 692-2016 or City Hall at 692-6281.
