AURORA – An armed Flandreau man allegedly tried to flee from deputies but was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault Wednesday, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic assault at 1:32 p.m. Wednesday that occurred in the 100 block of East Front Street in Aurora, said Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring.

Jeramey Michael Garver, 33, had left the scene before the deputies arrived, Sebring reported.

“The suspect was later located in Bruce,” Sebring said. “While talking to the suspect he ran from deputies on foot. The deputies pursued on foot and in a patrol vehicle. While pursuing, the suspect pulled a handgun from his waistband, which he later attempted to hide while running.”

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault/domestic, aggravated assault against law enforcement, obstructing law enforcement, carrying concealed weapon on person without a license, possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated, driving without a valid license, and interference with emergency communications, Sebring said.

Garver is being held in the Brookings County Detention Center on a $10,000 dollar cash bond.
