South Dakota State beats Kansas City twice

BROOKINGS – Maya Hansen netted four goals and Taylor Lock and Hailee Fischer combined for a pair of shutouts as South Dakota State swept Kansas City – 2-0 on Sunday and 4-0 on Friday – in Summit League women’s soccer action at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.

The Kangaroos dropped to 4-5 (4-4).

The Jackrabbits (4-0-2) are host to Denver on Friday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at noon.

Sunday

 SDSU 2, UMKC 0

Karlee Manding scored in the 51st minute to get things going.

Maya Hansen netted her fourth goal of the weekend in the 65th.

SDSU outshot UMKC 8-6, including 4-2 on goal.

Hailee Fischer got the start at goalkeeper, making a pair of saves. Taylor Lock completed the shutout in the second half.

Friday

 SDSU 4, UMKC 0

Maya Hansen netted a hat trick as the Jackrabbits handled the Kangaroos.

The sophomore scored in the sixth minute and again in the 19th. Rachel Hewitt assisted on both goals, with Reagan Anderson adding a helper on the first.

Kayla Anderson made it 3-0 5 minutes before halftime. Katherine Jones was credited with the assist.

Hansen completed the hat trick in the 85th minute to provide for the final margin.

SDSU outshot UMKC 20-8, including 10-2 on goal.

Taylor Lock (first half) and Hailee Fischer (second) combined for the shutout. The latter made a pair of saves.
