GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The South Dakota State volleyball team went 0-2 to open the UND Classic on Friday at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.
Mattison Munger totaled 62 set assists in the two matches and moved into 10th on SDSU’s all-time list with 1,740 for her career.

The Mountaineers pulled out a 25-23, 28-26, 22-25, 25-22 victory.
Melissa McMath had a match-high 18 kills to go with 2 1/2 blocks. Lexi Kohut added 14 kills, a service ace and a block. Kara Spicer contributed six kills, three aces and 3 1/2 blocks. Ashlyn Brown dished out 42 set assists and also paced the team defensively with 18 digs.
Makenzie Hennen led four Jackrabbits in double figures with 14 digs while adding an ace and a block assist. Payton Richardson totaled a career-high 11 kills, an ace and 2 1/2 blocks (two solo).
Ashlynn Smith had a personal-best 12 kills, an ace and a block assist. Sierra Peterson posted 10 kills, two aces and 1 1/2 blocks (one solo).
Munger guided the offense with 43 set assists. Ellie Benson notched 19 digs, Hennen 17, Smith 12 and Munger 11.

The Colonials won by the set scores of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-16.
Aaliya Davidson and Jordan Young both had 11 kills, a block assist and eight digs. Davidson also netted an ace. Kristel Moor totaled seven kills, two aces and a solo block. Kelsey Clark chipped in with eight kills. Jaimeson Lee (18) and Stacey Benton (14) combined for 32 set assists. Benton collected 10 digs and Lee eight.
For SDSU, Peterson notched nine kills, an ace and a block assist. Smith also recorded nine kills. Munger totaled 19 set assists and Hanna Jellema came up with 10 digs. Hennen had three kills, two aces, a block assist and eight digs.
