Special tree branch pick-up scheduled for this week

BROOKINGS – Following weekend storms, the City of Brookings will conduct a special tree debris curbside pickup for residents this Wednesday, July 24, through Thursday, July 25.

Branches should be placed in a pile in the boulevard in preparation for pick up. Please note that branches will be collected from boulevards only. Debris placed in alleyways or yards will not be picked up.

The collection will start Wednesday morning on the northwest corner of town and continue through other areas until Thursday afternoon. Crews will only pick up from each location one time, so the city is asking that residents place storm debris out no later than 7 a.m. Wednesday. Items set out after that time may not be collected.

Tree branches can also be dropped off free of charge at the Brookings Regional Landfill located at 4101 30th St. The landfill will offer extended hours until 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. The city asks that residents refrain from placing garbage on boulevards and from dropping storm debris off at compost drop off sites.

Standard garbage and recycling pickup times will continue as usual.
