One of the state’s newest and prime game production areas, the Roe Game Production Area south of Iroquois, was dedicated Sept. 15 by Tony Leif, director of wildlife for the South Dakota Game Fish & Parks Department.

Attending were family and friends of the late Robert “Bob” Roe of Brookings.

Over a 20-year span Roe purchased, planned and personally developed the 320-acre ecosystem.

Inspecting the dedication marker honoring her grandfather was Jady Roe, 5, daughter of Roe’s son, David and Heather Roe of Brookings.

Roe, a former state legislator and popular local businessman, died Nov. 18, 2016.
