BROOKINGS – A pickup was stolen, then recovered last week, but items were found to be missing, according to Brookings Police.
The theft of the truck was reported at 7:13 a.m. Thursday and occurred in the 100 block of Second Street South, Lt. Marci Gebers said. The stolen vehicle was a silver 2008 Chevy Silverado pickup.
“Doors were unlocked; keys were left in the vehicle,” Gebers said.
“The reporting party said that it had to have been stolen sometime overnight and woke up to find their vehicle gone,” Gebers said.
An officer located the pickup in the 2200 block of 10th Street around 2 p.m. Thursday, Gebers said.
“There was no damage to the vehicle; however, there were several tools that were stolen from inside the pickup, and they were valued at roughly $1,000,” Gebers said.
They have no suspects, Gebers said, but are asking anyone in the area who may have seen the pickup to call the police department.
