Storage units burgled; tools, generator stolen

BROOKINGS – Several storage units were burglarized, and DeWalt tools and a generator were stolen, according to Brookings Police.

The burglary and theft were reported at 12:32 p.m. Sunday and occurred at a storage facility in the 1600 block of Western Avenue, Lt. Marci Gebers said.

“It was discovered there had been six locking mechanisms that were cut on storage units and one padlock,” Gebers said.

“They were thinking that this occurred on Sept. 19,” she added.

There was no estimate on damages.

“There was approximately $1,050 worth of DeWalt tools that were stolen from one of the storage units and a Honda 2000 generator, valued at $800,” Gebers said.

The police do have a photograph of “a possible suspect vehicle” on Crimestoppers and the BPD’s Facebook page.
