BROOKINGS – On Saturday, March 20, the Brookings High School Science Olympiad Team and the Mickelson Middle School Science Olympiad Team competed in the 37th annual South Dakota Science Olympiad Competition.

BHS placed first in every event, resulting in the school’s first-ever perfect score and the best score at any state competition ever.  The team also took first place overall for the second time since 1985, earning an invitation to compete at the National Science Olympiad Competition on May 22.

MMS placed first in all but one event, resulting in the best score the school has earned since 1985. MMS is also the first non-Yankton team to win its division in 37 years. This earned them an invitation to compete at the National Science Olympiad Competition for the second time in 37 years.
