BROOKINGS – One driver was cited after he pulled out in front of another driver on Main Avenue, according to the Brookings Police.

The accident was reported at 7:43 a.m. Thursday and occurred at the intersection of Main Avenue South and Half Moon Road, Assistant Chief Derrick Powers said.

Benjamin Clites, 16, of Brookings, was driving a 1999 GMC Suburban east on Half Moon Road and turning onto Main Avenue South, Powers said.

Alan Bee, 63, of Brookings was driving a 1995 Chevy pickup, pulling a trailer, traveling southbound on Main Avenue South, Powers said.

“(The Suburban) pulled out in front of the pickup that Alan was driving and the vehicles collided,” Powers said.

A citation was issued to Clites for failure to yield to the other vehicle, he added.

There were no drugs or alcohol involved and no injuries, said Powers, adding the report did not include a damage estimate.
