Sydney Trio

BROOKINGS — South Dakota State University Extension proudly announces the appointment of Sydney Trio as the horticulture assistant at Brookings' McCrory Gardens. Trio, holding a dual role, also serves as the education coordinator, where she orchestrates educational programs and garden events.

Her efforts are fundamental in "connecting people to plants," a vision she believes aligns seamlessly with SDSU Extension's educational mission.

Trio is a key figure at McCrory Gardens, specializing in event planning and educational outreach. She organizes the Garden Discovery Festival, leads tours, coordinates school visits, and contributes to garden cultivation. Her role extends SDSU Extension's community programs and addresses public inquiries through the Garden Hotline.

A Minnesota native with a horticultural degree from SDSU, Trio's experience includes her work at the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum. Her academic and professional background positions her as an asset to SDSU Extension, promising to enrich educational content and delivery.

The synergy between her roles promises a richer, more accessible educational experience for Brookings residents and the wider South Dakota community. SDSU Extension Director Karla Trautman anticipates Trio's unique position will bolster the organization's educational initiatives.
