BROOKINGS – Sydney Wirebaugh and Cassidy Gough finished 1-2 on the individual leaderboard to help Aberdeen Central edged Sioux Falls O’Gorman for the team title in the Brookings Invitational on a warm and breezy Thursday at Brookings Country Club.

Sydney Wirebaugh, Aberdeen Central win Brookings Invitational

BROOKINGS – Sydney Wirebaugh and Cassidy Gough finished 1-2 on the individual leaderboard to help Aberdeen Central edged Sioux Falls O’Gorman for the team title in the Brookings Invitational on a warm and breezy Thursday at Brookings Country Club.

The Golden Eagles shot 323 and the Lady Knights ended up at 324. Mitchell (345), Pierre (346) and Yankton (347) were third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

The host Bobcats shot 419 and ended up 10th.

Wirebaugh fired a 3-over-par 75 and Gough was a stroke back at 4-over 76.

OG’s Carly Kunkel carded a 77 in third place.

O’Gorman’s Maddie Otta and Mitchell’s Masy Mock tied for fourth with matching 81s. Aberdeen Central’s Brooklyn Hofer and O’Gorman’s Sophia Salter tied for sixth at 82.

The Golden Eagles’ fourth score came from Camryn Wipf, as she shot 90 and finished in a tie for 29th. Jenna Sutcliffe shot 84 and tied for 10th to complete the Lady Knights’ team tally.

Nicole Steen paced Brookings with a 98, putting her in a tie for 42nd.

Janaya Kuehl (104) tied for 53rd, Paige Mahlke (107) took 56th and Ashton Austreim (110) ended up 58th to round out the team score.

Also for the Bobcats, Morgan Herold (117) finished 60th and Emily Harms (124) 62nd.

The Watertown Invitational is Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Cattail Crossing.
