Taffe-Sigler gets SDSU employee honor

BROOKINGS – Janette Taffe-Sigler, an accounting assistant in the cashier’s office at South Dakota State University, has been named Civil Service Employee of the Month for August.

Taffe-Sigler has been employed at the cashier’s office since November 2019. She was cited for her great customer service, accurate work and positive attitude.

Co-worker Barbara Geise said, “Janette has trained new staff members with patience and understanding. She has suggested and implemented changes to our daily balance process to make it more efficient. She has also assisted our staff with sharing her knowledge of Microsoft Word documents and Mail Merge to make the collection process better.

“Janette has a good personality and sense of humor. These qualities help us perform our job responsibilities positively during our stressful times. I really enjoy working with Janette and appreciate the quality of work she performs.”

A grateful and surprised Taffe-Sigler said, “I enjoy working with all the staff, students and parents.”

A 14-year resident of Brookings, Taffe-Sigler said she enjoys camping, bocce ball, reading, walking and spending time with family and friends. Previously she was involved in United Way and Second Harvest Heartland, a food program; in addition to being a mentor in a leadership program.
