BROOKINGS – A teenager on a bicycle was injured when she collided with a minivan turning onto 17th Avenue, according to the Brookings Police.
The accident was reported just before 4 p.m. last Wednesday, Oct. 9, Assistant Chief Derrick Powers said.
Natasha Penner, 42, of Brookings, was driving a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, Powers said.
“Prior to the accident, (Penner) was traveling east on Sixth Street and she was going to make a right turn onto 17th Avenue. She stopped for a red light, observed the roadway was clear. As she was turning, a bicyclist that was traveling west on the sidewalk was crossing and the bicyclist and the car collided,” Powers said.
“No citations were issued,” he added.
Powers reported the bicyclist was a 15-year-old Brookings girl.
“She was transported to the hospital by the Brookings Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries,” Powers said.
There was no information on damage to either vehicle or bicycle.
