ELKTON – Elkton School held an assembly honoring seventh- to 12th-grade social sciences teacher Tracy Hague on Thursday afternoon.  Hague has been deployed with the 147th South Dakota Army National Guard Unit.

Nearly 115 soldiers with the South Dakota Army National Guard’s Bravo Battery, 147th Field Artillery Battalion, and 1-147th Forward Support Group will depart for an eight-month deployment to Europe. A deployment ceremony was held Saturday in Yankton.

In Elkton Thursday, staff members spoke about Hague and her love of teaching and country. Students presented her with gifts, and the Junior American Auxiliary members from Elkton and Aurora also presented Hague with gifts. Members of the Elkton American Legion and Elkton American Legion Auxiliary were also present at the assembly.

“As an administrator, I am happy Ms. Hague answered the call to teach,” Elkton Principal Kelly Neill said. “As an American, I am happy she answered the call to serve. Along with the students and staff at Elkton, I thank her for her service to us, our students and our country.”
