Third Sunday breakfasts raise funds

BROOKINGS – Above, the October Third Sunday Breakfast designated nonprofit organization was the Brookings Domestic Abuse Shelter. The advertising and publicity that the organization used prior to the event netted them the largest donated amount this year.

The check for $900 was earned through their willingness to let the Brookings community know and understand what their goal was and who they could help.

The abuse shelter offers assistance to those that need safe housing. The men, women and families are able to use this service because of the dedication and commitment of the abuse shelter employees and the generosity of our community.

The breakfast event was prepared by the auxiliary members and was served by high school bowling team members. The bowling team had extra pep in their step during the serving of the meals. Bobby the Bobcat was on hand and added energy and fun to the morning.

The successful turnout by the community netted the bowling team $875 to use toward expenses during the bowling season.
