ELKTON – Three workers were injured and one was transported to Sioux Falls after they fell a dozen feet in a construction accident, according to the Brookings County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident was reported at 10:08 a.m. Monday and occurred near 210th Street and 484th Avenue in rural Elkton, Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said.

The three were working on a construction site of a new cattle barn.

“Three construction workers fell off of scaffolding that broke. The scaffolding was attached to a skid steer,” Sebring said.

Antonio Vizcarra, 53, Noe Torres, 51, and Isai Vizcarra, 22, all of Madison, were injured after they fell about 12 feet onto the concrete floor, Sebring said.

“They were transported to the Brookings Hospital by the Brookings Ambulance. Isai Vizcarra was then transferred to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls to be treated for unknown injuries. The other two were treated and released from the Brookings Hospital,” Sebring said.

Also responding were the Elkton First Responders, and the Elkton Ambulance.
