NEWTON, Kan. – The Summit League unveiled its 2018-19 Women’s Golf First and Second All-League teams Saturday night at the championship banquet held at the Meridian Center. A vote of the league’s nine head coaches determined both teams.

Denver, who topped the league with a 298.2 scoring average in 2018-19, led the way with four selections, including three first-teamers.

Junior Mary Weinstein earned second straight first-team accolade after leading the league with a 72.5 scoring average in 24 rounds played.  Her regular season was once again highlighted by a career-best round at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in September where she closed with a 64 (-8) to finish in third place.

Joining Weinstein with first-team nods were fellow Pioneers Sophie Newlove, who racked up four top-10 finishes and a 75.2 stroke average, and junior Camille Enright, who owned a 75.5 stroke average and secured one top-10 finishing during the regular season. Newlove, who is the reigning Championship MVP, was a second-team performer in 2017-18.

South Dakota State’s Teresa Toscano joined Weinstein as a repeat first-team honoree after claiming three individual titles in 2018-19 and boasting the league’s second-best stroke average at 73.1.

Oral Roberts freshman Sarah Bell rounded out the first team after boasting a 73.5 stroke average and five top-10 finishes during her first collegiate season.

Freshman Alyson Bean is the final member of DU’s all-league quartet as the rookie claimed second-team honors after putting together a 76.5 stroke average in 10 tournaments. Bean collected one top-10 finish.

Two more Golden Eagles earned second-team nods as Isabella Caamal and Beatriz Garcia gave ORU a trio of players with all-league recognition. Caamal recorded two of three top-10 finishes down the backstretch of the season while Garcia enters the Championship coming off medalist honors at the Kansas City Intercollegiate, which were the first of the junior’s career.

The North Dakota State duo of Emma Groom and Taylor McCorkle round out the second team. Groom opened the season with back-to-back, top-five finishes and put together a 76.2 stroke average for the season.

Besides Toscano, McCorkle was the only other Summit League player to claim multiple individual titles as she won twice during her sophomore season. In her second victory, she closed with a NDSU single-round record 65 (-7) to claim the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational.
