BROOKINGS –  A local dental office and a chiropractor’s community service projects will allow residents to unload some of their excess Halloween candy and support those serving the country.

Embrace Yorkshire Dental is hosting a Halloween candy buy-back for parents and children from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4. They can bring their loot to 2220 Yorkshire Drive.

“Folks can alleviate some of their excess goodies to our office and will be compensated while we all support our active troops,” Dr. Hillary Van Dyke said.

“The candy will be purchased for $3 per pound, packaged by us, sent to a regional sorter and distributed to active troops both home and abroad in care packages.”

Van Dyke said the plan is to alleviate children’s cavity rate risk and provide goodie bags for service men and women.

Willert Wellness and Chiropractic is also hosting Operation Gratitude Halloween Candy Give-back through Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Residents are encouraged to drop off candy during business hours at 405 Main Ave. and receive a goodie bag. The donated candy will be included in care packages to U.S. troops and first responders.
